Department of Consumer Protection, Liquor Control Division

This is the agency charged with the responsibility of enforcing the Connecticut Liquor Control Act.  The Liquor Control Division of the Department of Consumer Protection issues permits, oversees compliance with the State liquor laws, conducts investigations into the conduct of permit premises and holds disciplinary and compliance hearings.

Not only can this office issue your permit, it is empowered with the authority to revoke it, issue fines or order your business to close for a certain time period if it determines that you, as permittee, have not complied with the state laws regarding the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages.  This is a highly specialized area of law and hearings before the Liquor Control Commissioners can have very significant implications for your business.

If you are applying for a permit, are facing a disciplinary hearing or the subject of a compliance investigation, you need someone with the necessary skills to assist you.  While our web site and Liquor Law Handbook offer some assistance and outline the basic principals, you may be in need of legal counseling.  Please contact us with questions or concerns regarding your specific legal needs.  Initial consultations are always free.
