Trendowski & Allen, P.C. is pleased to announce that Melissa A. Rizzo has joined the Firm as an Associate. Attorney Rizzo was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 2008. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, in 2005 from the University of Connecticut, and her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2008.
Melissa served as an Assistant Clerk to the Honorable Thomas Miano in the Hartford Superior Court prior to joining the Firm. She also served as a Volunteer Coordinator/Field Staff for the Rell Gubernatorial Campaign in 2006. Melissa is a member of the Executive Board of the Federalist Society Connecticut Lawyers Chapter and is an avid jazz bassist, having worked as a professional musician with a jazz combo.
She resides in Windsor, Connecticut.

WOMEN'S BUSINESS CLOTHING COLLECTION DRIVE
During the 2010 holiday season, our Firm held its second annual "Dress for Success"
women's business clothing collection drive for the shoreline area to benefit disadvantaged
women who need professional attire to support their efforts to join or reenter the workforce.
The drive was a tremendous success due to the overwhelming
response from the people in our community.
The quality and quantity of items received was amazing and guaranteed to help women from the shoreline area present themselves with the confidence they will need as they seek employment.
This year's donations went to Dress for Success Hartford,
which began in 1998 and has served more than 3,200 women in the
Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, Tolland and Windham counties.
Their mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

has become an Attorney and has accepted a position as an Associate with our Firm.
Refai has been a law clerk with our Firm since November 2008 and was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in November 2010. He received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, with honors, in 2007 from Brown University, and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2010.
Prior to joining our Firm, Refai held a number of law clerk and internship positions, including positions with the Honorable Senior District Court Judge Dominic J. Squatrito, the Appellate Unit of the Office of the Public Defender, and the New York State Division of Human Rights.

VALLEY SHORE CROP HUNGER WALK

Hunger Walk on Sunday, May 2, 2010.
Proceeds will benefit the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and pantries, in addition to global hunger and poverty programs. Now in its 19th year, this event has raised over $91,000 to fight hunger.
The walk takes place through approximately three miles of the scenic North Cove in Old Saybrook and usually takes less than an hour to complete.

We were amazed at the quantity and quality of the clothing we received. Many of the items were not only "nearly new" but BRAND NEW! They are guaranteed to help men and women from the shoreline area make the difficult transition back to life and the working world. These contributions will surely enable them to dress for success and present themselves with the confidence they will need.
The donations we received were given to The Connection, a non-profit human services agency founded in 1972 that serves more than 4,000 children and adults monthly at 30 residential and service centers in every part of Connecticut through supportive housing, behavioral health, community justice, and women and children's programs. The clothing donations will benefit men and women served in Old Saybrook, Middletown, New Haven, New London, and other local shoreline area communities.
